More backlog for Madrid

Radio Vigo has reported that the mayor of the city, Abel Caballero, has announced that the league game between Celta Vigo and Real Madrid has been postponed due to safety concerns as was reported earlier as a risk. This follows inspections by the stadium team at the Balaídos.

"I have already spoken with the president of the Celta and now they are preparing the technical report, the decision is irreversible," the mayor said.

No date has yet been assigned for the game to be replayed but clearly this will mean that following the weekend's action, Madrid, who will remain top of the league no matter what happens elsewhere, will have two games in hand on their rivals.

As yet, LaLiga have not confirmed officially that the game will be off. If it is confirmed, as is expected, a slot will need to be found to play. The previously cancelled Valencia game is scheduled for 22 February.

Deportivo game also affected

The decision not to play tomorrow comes on the back of another Liga game in the same area of Spain being postponed for similar reasons. Both stadiums will have work done to them in the coming week to ensure they can cope with any future strong winds.

Real Madrid pressure Celta Vigo to play the game

Despite Vigo's mayor announcing the game has been postponed, Real Madrid are still desperate to play the match as scheduled and are putting pressure on Celta Vigo and LaLiga to play the match.
