Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola gave Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter a lovely gesture following his side’s 2-0 win over the Cherries at Dean Court on Monday night.

The Catalan coach approached Arter straight after the final whistle to wish the player well on the upcoming birth of his child after hearing of the heartbreaking loss of his first daughter just over a year ago.

The Republic of Ireland international and his finacee Rachel suffered through the devastating death of their daughter Renne when she was stillborn in December 2015.

Sky Sports cameras captured the moment when Guardiola approached Arter, appearing to say: 'I'm so sorry for what happened, I wish you all the best'.

It was an unbelievable touch from Pep - Arter

After the game, Arter confirmed via Bournemouth's Twitter account what the Spaniard had said: 'He gave me and my partner his best wishes ahead of the birth of our child.'

Later, speaking to the Daily Echo, he said: 'He offered his best wishes for me and my partner this week, which was an unbelievable touch.

'He is someone I have a massive amount of respect for. I watched his Barcelona teams - and look at his Manchester City side tonight.

'For me, he is the best manager in the world. I don't think there's anybody close to him and what he has achieved.

'For him to offer that to me, I respected it and accepted it with a smile on my face.'
