Infographic: Who are Europe's worst penalty takers?

Atletico Madrid, and Antoine Griezmann in particular, have come under-fire for their penalty record this season, but surprisingly they are not the worst offenders in Europe's top five leagues this season when it comes to spotkick misses.

Follow the Leverkusen - Atletico Madrid live | Champions League

Atletico Madrid's inability to score penalties this season has become an area of much concern at the Rojiblanco club.

Diego Simeone's team have missed four of their six spotkicks in LaLiga Santander (six out of nine in all competitions), with Osasuna (two penalties scored from four attempts) the second worst team in Spain from 12 yards.

Lazio miss the most

However Atletico, quite surprisingly, do not have the worst record in Europe over the 2016/17 campaign in terms of their penalty to goal ratio, or by the total number of spotkicks missed.

If we analyse the continent’s five major leagues, Italy is the country where the most penalty kicks have failed to find the net. Lazio hold the dubious honour of leading this list by having missed five of their seven penalties.

Leverkusen, Bordeaux with worst ratio

Though Lazio have missed the most times, Bayer Leverkusen and Bordeaux have the highest percentage of fails, with both teams having missed three from four (75%)
