Rad Belgrade have been ordered to close their stadium to fans after a section of supporters hurled racist abuse at Partizan Belgrade’s Brazilian midfielder Everton Luiz during a league game last weekend, Serbian daily Politika reported.

Disciplinary commission mulling punishment

The stadium closure was authorized by the chief of the Serbian Superliga, Vladimir Bulatovic, and it will remain taped off until further notice while the disciplinary commission of the Serbian Football Federation makes a ruling on the incident.

The local supporters aimed racist chants and made noises imitating a monkey towards Luiz, who left the pitch in tears.

Partizan subsequently condemned the behaviour and described it as “an insensitive act that is not only racist but also constitutes an act of hatred towards Partizan and to all citizens of Serbia.”
