Former Real Madrid executive Ivan Bravo, who leads Qatar's prestigious national sports Aspire Academy, will remain working with the 2022 World Cup hosts as they prepare to compete on the world stage. Media and industry insiders had recently reported that the Spaniard could possibly be moving to English football as CEO of storied club Leeds United.

The close ties between Bravo and Leeds United's new co-owner Andrea Radrizzani suggest that both the former Real Madrid director and Aspire might collaborate with the Elland Road club as it prepares for a new phase of growth.

Ivan Bravo: head of strategy at Real Madrid

Bravo previously worked as head of strategy at Real Madrid, with responsibility for the Spanish giant’s objectives from both a business and sporting perspective. He joined the Aspire Academy in Qatar in 2011, with the goal of helping Qatar develop players before the World Cup to be held there in 2022.

The Aspire Academy was founded in 2004 with a mission to find and nurture the finest young Qatari athletes.
