There's a time and place to rotate

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has chosen to rotate for tonight's game against Las Palmas although, where this policy can often weaken a team, some would argue that these changes actually improve Los Blancos given current individual form. The Bernabéu crowd will certainly not accept anything less than three points (especially following Barça's big win earlier tonight) so the decision will have to be justified.

Out goes Benzema, Modric, Casemiro and Pepe from the weekend game against Villarreal and in come Morata, Isco, Kovacic and Nacho. Both Benzema and Modric have played a lot of minutes so the rest could do them good, with tougher games likely to come in the weeks ahead, while more pitch-time for those coming in can only help confidence and cohesion throughout the wider squad which will be required to compete on both Liga and Champions League fronts. Isco and Morata came on to great effect on Sunday and have been given their chance to prove themselves further.

Confirmed team line-ups

Madrid XI: Keylor, Carvajal, Ramos, Nacho, Marcelo, Kroos, Kovacic, Isco, Bale, Cristiano, Morata

Las Palmas XI: Varas, Simón, Lemos, Bigas, Dani Castellano, Roque, Vicente; Tana, Viera, Jesé, Boateng

Referee: Fernández Borbalán
