Ander Herrera was booked for blatant obstruction in the 20th minute of Chelsea's quarter-final FA Cup match against Manchester United, a foul that would come back to haunt him 15 minutes later.

Herrera sent off for second yellow

In a fairly innocuous position out wide Hazard, who had been on the end of a number of Man Utd fouls, was brought down late by Herrera. There was no doubt it was a foul, but to the surprise of many referee Michael Oliver went straight for his top pocket, with the subsequent booking seeing Herrera dismissed.

The Manchester United players protested the decision furiously and many neutral observers also felt the decision looked somewhat harsh. Mourinho could be seen laughing sarcastically at the decision as Herrera trudged over to the bench.

Alan Shearer however said on the BBC that he felt the red card was fully deserved, as Manchester United had been warned about the persistent fouling of Hazard, and therefore he had no option but to brandish a yellow at Herrera when he brought the Chelsea down.
