While the debate over finding new talent to quarry from the youth academy, Barcelona's scouting department have been busy compiling reports on Brazilian sensation Vinicius Júnior, a hugely-talented teenage winger who some have drawn comparisons with Neymar. The reports which have landed on the table of Barça's Director of Youth Football Pep Segura have been so glowing that over at the offices in Camp Nou, the club has prepared an all-out offensive to land the prodigious 16-year-old. Everyone is aware that until Vinicius Júnior turns 18, he cannot join Barcelona, and for that reason the work which the Blaugrana technical department is working to ensure that all of finer details of the operation are under strict control.

Vinicius to Camp Nou, close, but not concluded

Vinicius Júnior, who came through the youth ranks at Flamengo is valued at a not unsubstantial 30 million euros - and that is a conservative estimate... Barça are so convinced about the teenager's potential that club employee André Cury, who played a role in the transfers of Neymar and Douglas, urged Barça to prioritize the operation and according to sources at the club, the deal is all but done - but not closed, as it would be illegal to do so.

Neymar involved in Vinicius operation

Barcelona have used Neymar to encourage the player, who is being advised by his family, agents and Flamengo. While discretion is important, Neymar and Vinicius have been exchanging messages over their social media accounts - which the club views as positive. Barça know Vinicius is a player with a bright future and also know that Flamengo are eager to amplify his contract which expires in 2019. It would be fantasy to think that they will be able to sign the player on a free transfer in two years' time, which is why Cury is using his influence in Brazil and keeping talks with both the player and his inner circle ongoing.
