Dani Ceballos' buy-out hiked to 'bargain-price' 15 million euros
The player's contractual arrangement with Betis has been reviewed after he completed a specific number of official games. Napoli are following his progress with interest.
Real Betis midfielder Dani Ceballos is worth a little more than he was just a few days ago - 3 million euros more to be precise. The player's contract states that his buy-out clause will be raised every time he plays a minimum of 20 official games per season up until the arrangement ends in June 2020. Yesterday, Ceballos featured in the starting line-up in the 2-0 win over Osasuna - making his 20th league appearance and thus triggering the prevision written into his contract, which means that his buy-out is now 15 million euros. It's a bargain for a player who is only 20, a Spain youth international and an essential figure in Víctor Sánchez del Amo's Betis side.
Betis hope to amplify Ceballos' contract again before June
The club feels that Ceballos' buy-out is still way too cheap and hope to strike a new deal with the player before this summer's European U21 championships which take place in the final two weeks of June in Poland. Betis know that should Spain do well at the tournament and Ceballos shines, the list of suitors eager to get his signature will only increase.
Napoli keen on Ceballos
Napoli are the most recent club to have expressed an interest in Ceballos, who came close to joining Atlético de Madrid last summer. The Rojiblancos are still keen, but first they must see whether FIFA lifts their transfer ban - if not, they must wait until the January 2018 window by which time. Ceballos may well have already been sold.
Several of Europe's top clubs were seen jotting down notes on the player during Betis' recent game at the Bernabéu and others regularly come down to the Benito Villamarín to see him in action. Dani Ceballos is just one of the positive notes in what has been a mediocre campaign for the Andalucians who have chalked just two wins in their last 10 games.
