Kluivert: "I see myself at Barça, but Ronaldo I admire the most"
The son of Patrick Kluivert marked his Ajax debut with a goal at the weekend. The youngster admires Cristiano, but sees himself at Barcelona in the next seven years.
Justin Kluivert, the Ajax forward and son of ex-Barcelona player Patrick Kluivert, scored his first goal for the Dutch giants on his debut, a 1-1 draw with Eredivisie rivals Excelsior. The 17 year old is one of the biggest promises in Dutch football.
Camp Nou calling
In an interview with ‘Goal’, Kluivert confirmed that his dream is to follow in the footsteps of his father, who spent six seasons at Camp Nou.
“My dream club is Barça, although English football is high quality too. I like the Premier League a lot as a competition, I’d like to play there”, the youngster mused.
That said, he has a very clear vision for the future: “Within the next seven years? Of course, I see myself at Barcelona. But before, I’d like to play in England too, if I can.”
Kluivert senior is currently Director of Football at Paris Saint Germain, and was therefore on the losing side as his former club, Barcelona, completed a mesmerising comeback to progress to the next round of the Champions League.
Cristiano idolised
Barcelona is the club in Kluivert’s sights, but his idol plays for their arch rivals.
“The player I admire the most is Cristiano Ronaldo. No just because of his qualities, but also because of the way he conducts himself, what he eats and how hard he trains. His work ethic is an example for me.”
