Real Madrid have entered the market for 17-year-old Palmeiras midfielder Alan Souza Guimaraes, who recently shone at the South American under-17 Championship as Brazil swept to the title.
According to ESPN Brasil, Madrid have employed the services of agent Juan Figer to register their interest in the Palmeiras and Brazil youth number 10.
Alan a rising star
Alan started out in the academy at São Paulo and in 2013 rejected offers from several of Brazil’s biggest clubs and Inter Milan to sign for Palmeiras. Widely viewed as one of the country’s brightest talents, he has already played for the under-20 national side despite only recently turning 17. Real Madrid have been keeping an eye on Alan for a year since the youngster played against the Bernabéu’s junior C team in Madrid in the final of the under-17 Club World Cup in 2016.
Real plan to sign Alan in 2019
Alan, or Alanzinho as he known in Brazil, is a left-footed attacking midfielder with an eye for goal and plenty of technical ability. His contract at Palmeiras runs until 2019 and he has a minimum release clause of 50 million euros. Real’s plan is to reach a pre-agreement with the player and Palmeiras to sign him when that contract expires.
Alan was one of the stars of the South American under-17 Championship, where he bagged a hat-trick against Chile in Brazil’s final game and provided six assists during the tournament.
