Real Madrid’s options for the goalkeeping position are not limited to De Gea and Courtois. Los Blancos have also focused their gaze on the Bundesliga, and according to Kicker, specifically on Bayer Leverkusen ‘keeper Bernd Leno.
Agent avoids mentioning Madrid
The player’s representative, Uli Feber, was asked about interest in his client among the European football elite. He replied “there was interest last year, and it has returned this year”, but avoided referring to Real Madrid.
It is not the first time that Leno has been mentioned in the same breath as the Bernabéu-based club. In the lead up to the Champions League match between Atlético Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen, Leno commented that “it is an honour when you’re linked with Real Madrid, but I’m concentrating on Bayer”.
Germany national team debut
Leno, who recently turned 25 years old, made his competitive debut for Germany last Sunday, in the victory over Azerbaijan. Previously, he had appeared in three friendly matches for the national team.
