Bale poised to return for El Clásico

Varane also trained with the rest of the Real squad, but is unlikely to get the all-clear for the big game on Sunday evening.

Gareth Bale once again trained with the rest of the Real Madrid squad and is set to make a return for El Clásico against Barcelona in the Santiago Bernabéu (Sunday, 20:45 CET). After completing Saturday's training session, the Welshman has now trained on three separate occasions and has reportedly recovered from his seventh injury - this time an ankle problem, picked up in the  first-leg of the Champions League quarter-final away to Bayern Munich - since arriving in the Spanish capital in 2013.

The club's medical staff are wary of the Real striker forcing his return and aggravating the injury. However, Bale has been pushing hard to be ready for Sunday's crunch game, and it now remains firmly in Zidane's hands as to whether the Welshman will start or not.

Varane

In other squad news, Raphaël Varane also trained on Saturday, his second full training session this week. Nevertheless, the centre-back will not be ready to go up against Messi and co. and despite being close to full fitness he has yet to fully recover from a hamstring inkury picked up against Alavés. That said, the French defender could be deemed fit to face either Depor or Valencia in the coming week or so.
