De Gea puts house up for sale: fuelling Real Madrid transfer talk

A new chapter opens on the future of Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea, based on reports coming out of the English media today. A detailed report has been published showing that the Manchester United number one has put his house there up for sale, fuelling yet more speculation that he is set for pastures new this summer.

Madrid move at the right time

Many people in Madrid see this as the last realistic chance for him to join Los Blancos. In 2015 everything looked done and dusted to bring him to the Bernabéu but delayed decisions - and the joy of those state-of-the-art fax machines - meant that there was disappointment on both sides of the non-deal. But if reports are right, a move to a new home is in progress.

The luxury mansion in a "highly sought after residential location" in Manchester - says the estate agent - is said to have an asking price of around four million euros (£3.85 million) and has five bedrooms. It also has a gym, tennis court, jacuzzi, cinema room and an outdoor swimming pool.

De Gea and Keylor futures closely linked

At 26, the Liga champions see him as a long-term replacement for Keylor Navas between the sticks and are willing to spend around 70 million euros to bring him back to Madrid where he played for rivals Atlético before joining United in 2011. Suggestions in England are that the Manchester club, who may miss out of Champions League football for a fourth successive season, are resigned to losing one of their star players.
