Marco Verratti's agent Donato di Campli has confirmed that he has called a meeting with PSG directors immediately after the Coupe de France final against Angers on 27 May. While Di Campli concedes that the club has stated that the player is not for sale, he wants to clarify Verratti's situation with Nasser Al Khelaifi and make their own position understood.
Barcelona meeting with Verratti's agent
Barcelona's interest in Verrati goes back to the summer of 2015 when Josep Maria Bartomeu and Donato di Campli discussed the player over dinner in Formentera. The Catalans have remained in contact with the agent and according to Mundo Deportivo there was another meeting last week ahead of Barça's Champions League quarter final against Juventus.
But Barcelona have not had productive experiences in their previous dealings with PSG - for instance their attempts to lure Thiago Silva foundered. They also know that signing Verratti will be impossible unless they get the player to hand in a transfer request. The midfielder is a massive fan of the Blaugranas, and said on 11 February: "Even though I feel at home here, any player would love to play for Barcelona. It's an honour to be compared to someone like Xavi and it makes me feel very proud that a club like Barça has thought about me. They're a great team but I am thinking only about the present, not the future”.
Verratti is valued at 40 million euros but that price will certainly be raised if PSG are pushed to negotiate.
