Diego Simeone did not have much time for the discussion over whether Cristiano Ronaldo's goal was offside or not and said "I saw it as a goal when it went in the goal and the referee pointed to the middle, it's a goal."

He was quick to dismiss the debate regarding the goal but was not quick to dismiss his side's chances in the second leg. "We call ourselves Atletico Madrid and we are able to do it," he said when asked how he felt after the defeat.

"I have a feeling of calmness, more than every I am calm. To try and do something impossible," he continued after one of the more difficult nights as the manager of the club. It might not be impossible but it is a massive mountain to climb if his Atletico side are to score three at the Calderon without letting their rivals score in eight days time.

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane was clearly pleased with his team's performance, but was quick to remind of the fact that there is a return leg yet to be played.
