The 2025 PGA Tour season continues to pick up pace this week, with the Farmers Insurance Open, the second event of the West Coast swing, taking place at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California.

Unusually, the fourth tournament of the year runs from Wednesday (January 22) through Saturday (January 25) to avoid clashing with another sporting event that happens to be a rather big deal in the United States.

Scheffler and McIlroy absent from Torrey Pines

Hideki Matsuyama (world No. 4) and Ludvig Aberg (No. 6) are the top ranked players in the field, which also includes last year’s winner Matthieu Pavon, fan favourites Max Homa and Tony Finau, US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley and 2015 PGA Champion Jason Day.

In case you’re wondering, world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is still recovering from minor surgery to his hand after a Christmas-dinner related accident (yes, really), while Rory McIlroy isn’t scheduled to play until next week’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
