Alexandre Lacazette has made the decision to leave Lyon this summer and wants to engineer a move to Atlético Madrid, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.
Atlético attempted to sign the France striker last summer but Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas, a notorious hard-baller, blocked the transfer and Lacazette was not keen on rocking the boat at his boyhood club.
Lacazette fee of 60 million euros
Lyon will hold out for a fee in the region of 60 million euros for Lacazette but Atlético face another obstacle in the form of their appeal against a Fifa transfer ban that would prevent them from signing any new players this summer. A decision on the matter is expected from the Court of Arbitration for Sport before June 1.
PSG, West Ham and Arsenal are also interested in the 25-year-old striker but only the Parisian club and Atlético can offer guaranteed Champions League football next season.
Lyon keen on Theo and Lucas Hernández
Spanish radio station Cadena Cope said in March that Atlético had reached an agreement with Lacazette but this was later denied by the player’s agent, David Venditelli. It has also been reported by France Football that Lyon will try and have Atlético’s French junior international brothers Theo and Lucas Hernández included in any deal for Lacazette.
