MÁLAGA - REAL MADRID

Keylor: two finals to convince the Madrid board

The keeper's future at the club could hinge on his performances against Málaga and Juve, although Mourinho insists De Gea is not for sale and Chelsea are refusing to negotiate over Courtois.

The glare

The Real Madrid goal will once again come into focus this summer, which means their current keeper Keylor Navas must shine in his last two matches to convince the board that he has a future at the club. With Courtois and De Gea on Los Blancos' radar, the Costa Rican shot-stopper will once again feel the glare of the spotlight at La Rosaleda and in Cardiff on 3 June, despite his eye-catching performances since El Clásico in April.

Keylor's record

Matters have changed quickly for Navas, however, since he was roundly booed against Betis on 12 March. Furthermore, his stuggles to keep a clean sheet, stretching across 17 matches, and recently, have done him no favours. He managed to stop the rot in the first Madrid derby in the Champions League, keeping Los Rojiblancos at bay in a 3-0 win. Yet since then he has repeatedly picked the ball out of his own net, for instance in the 2-1 defeat at the Calderón and against Sevilla (4-1) and Celta 1-4, despite Madrid securing comfortable wins. This season his average of goals conceded - 1.27 per game - is double last season's feat (0.68).

Past, present and future

Nevertheless, historically Málaga are favourable opponents for Keylor - he has only conceded three in five games against them, although his last showing down in Andalusia resulted in a clumsy 1-1 draw last season, and it also appears that both United and Chelsea are standing firm on the futures of De Gea and Courtois, respectively.
