In its Basque edition on Sunday morning, El Correo reported that Athletic Bilbao boss Ernesto Valverde has agreed to take over from Luis Enrique at Barcelona next season.

The daily also stated that Barça president Josep Maria Bartomeu has already informed the squad of the club’s decision to appoint the 53-year-old, who spent two seasons at Camp Nou as a player from 1988 to 1990.

El Correo said the deal was practically sealed and that it was now merely a case of hammering out the small print on what is expected to be a two-year deal.
