Cristiano off to Russia

The Real Madrid striker was called up in the Portugal squad list for the 2017 Confederations which will take place in Russia from June 17 through to July 2 along with team-mate Pepe. Zidane has confirmed that the Portuguese striker along with the U-21 players will not form part of the first part of the 2017/18 pre-season activity which is scheduled to commence on July 10.

Coleman optimistic over Bale

Wales national team Chris Coleman is optimistic that Gareth Bale will be fit again as his side prepare for a key World Cup 2018 Group D match away to leaders Serbia. Wales lie four points behind the Balkan nation and the Republic of Ireland and a defeat in Serbia would as good as extinguish hopes of an automatic place in Russia.
