Joining his in today's meeting with the media were players Manu García and Ibai Gómez. The 45-year-old didn't reveal the motives behind his decision to move on and it appears that he will be returning home to Argentina, even though he doesn't have an offers to coach other clubs.
A few months ago, Pellegrino told Spanish news agency Efe that he had sat down to chat with Alavés to discuss a new, extend contract. Now it appears that no agreement was reached and El Flaco will be undertaking a new venture far from Vitoria once he is ready to return to the game. The Argentinean said that he had informed the club of his decision a while ago but had waited until after the recent Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.
"Luckily, I don't have any personal or family problems", Pellegrino said during a press conference in which he asked not to take questions from reporters. "In our professional relationship, I think I am the one who has benefitted more than Alavés has. I have been happier here than I have in most of the places I have worked and I thank the team and the club for giving me this opportunity and everyone here for making it possible for Alavés to make a name for themselves in the Primera División. Without my players, I am nothing".
