Theo Hernández, who spent last season on loan at Alavés from Atlético Madrid and has agreed a deal to join Real Madrid this summer, was interviewed by police in Marbella after a complaint filed by a 20-year-old woman accusing the footballer of sexual assault. Hernández denied the allegations when giving a statement to investigators and was released without charge.

According to digital media outlet El Español, the alleged incident occurred outside a Marbella night club over the weekend. The complainant, who told police she is a friend of Hernández, said that the player asked her to accompany him to collect his car keys. Once inside the vehicle, according to the woman’s statement, Hernández made unsolicited advances and was asked to stop by the complainant. After a brief struggle, Hernández allegedly pushed the woman from car.

She then returned to the night club, with injuries to her legs, where she was allegedly insulted by one of Hernández’s friends, who she identified to police as Alavés player Alexis Ruano. The woman then returned home and from there went to the Hospital de la Costa del Sol to receive treatment before going to the police to report the incident.

Hernández's brother, Atlético Madrid defender Lucas Hernández, was ordered by a Madrid court to carry out 31 hours of community service and handed a restraining order after being charged over a domestic assault last February.
