Ronaldo: Chinese club to offer Madrid €200m

Cristiano Ronaldo will be the subject of a world-record transfer bid from the Chinese Super League.
Ronaldo to receive huge Chinese offer
Ronaldo’s superb display in the Champions League final victory over Juventus, and his fine end-of-season form, have persuaded a Chinese club (as yet unnamed) to swoop for the Portuguese star in a transfer that would be financially unprecedented.
The club will offer Real Madrid €200m for Ronaldo, who would receive a salary of €120m each year, a wage that would surpass that of anyone else the world of sport.
There have been perpetual rumours linking Ronaldo to the Chinese Super league during the last few seasons. But this time, the offer is concrete. Senior executives of the Chinese club will travel to Madrid next week to meet personally with Florentino Pérez, and place their offer on the table.
“Real Madrid have received an offer for Cristiano, but he himself rejected the offer because money isn’t everything. Real Madrid is his life.”
Madrid unlikely to allow exit
This latest interest will probably provoke the same response. It appears practically impossible that Real Madrid would allow the ex-Manchester United winger to leave the club, given the outrage that it would provoke among the fans.
At 32 years old, Ronaldo has enjoyed a superb end to the season. He scored ten goals in the final three stages of the Champions League, and was the Man of the Match in the final against Juventus. Previously a flying winger, Ronaldo has reinvented himself as a central striker, while Zinedine Zidane’s prudent rotation of his talisman in the last few weeks ensured that he was fresh for Real Madrid’s key matches.
It appears highly likely that Ronaldo will win the 2017 Ballon D’Or. The man himself certainly hopes so; he chanted along with the Bernabéu crowd as they sang for him to win the award.
