Morata hopes to resolve Madrid future this week
Álvaro Morata wants to confirm his move to Manchester United before his wedding next week. José Mourinho has already held talks with the Spain striker.
Álvaro Morata hopes to seal his exit from Real Madrid this week. The striker will tie the knot with his fiance next Friday, and wants to resolve his future before then.
Morata moves closer to United
With each passing day it appears increasingly likely that Morata will pull on the red shirt of Manchester United next season. José Mourinho is moving closer to a deal for the 24 year old, with Antoine Griezmann, a previous target for United, signing a new contract at Atlético Madrid.
According to The Telegraph, Morata has already reached an agreement with United. Once the two clubs give the go-ahead, the deal will be done.
The ‘Red Devils’ have not met the price that Real Madrid are demanding for Morata (between €80m and €90m), but reports in England assure that the two clubs will reach a deal at around €75m, plus €5m of add-ons, in the coming days.
Real Madrid know his value
Real Madrid are not willing to undersell Morata. Los Blancos are conscious that he has had a fine 2016/17 campaign, scoring 20 goals in just 1,872 minutes; one goal every 93 minutes. Moreover, both Chelsea and PSG are interested in the player, and his sale would fill Madrid’s coffers ahead of a possible move for Monaco striker Kylian Mbappé, who would cost around €130m.
Madrid are aware of Morata’s stance. The former-Juventus man would, in an ideal world, like to play and win titles at the Bernabéu. Yet he is not willing to play a bit-part role next season, given that the 2018 World Cup awaits at its conclusion.
Morata keen to reignite Mourinho flame
José Mourinho has held several conversations with Morata, and has promised him an important role in a squad that will take part in the Champions League. The relationship between the two remains warm following their time together at Real Madrid, yet the key question is whether United and Madrid will arrive at a deal. It appears likely that an answer to that question will arrive imminently.
