Real Madrid's signing of Theo Hernandez is a done deal. It has been a done deal since the Atletico Madrid defender passed his physical with los Blancos on May 8th and also signed a contract that will keep him at the club for five years. Hernandez will receive €36 million salary for those five years and Real Madrid have agreed to pay the 19-year-old's €24 million release clause. Atletico, however, have decided that there will be no announcement until they receive the full amount of money in that clause.

€6 million Real Madrid gesture to prop up release clause

It is only a matter of time when Real Madrid decide to pay either to the offices in LaLga or directly to Atletico Madrid in the form of a transfer. The two clubs had an agreement that neither would move for the other's players and in order to keep the will as good as possible between both, Real Madrid might pay Atletico and extra six million on top of the 24 of his release clause. If this does happen, it will be considered a transfer and not the payment of a release clause.

The difference, if this is the case, is staggering. Real Madrid would also be forced to pay the extra 21% tax for a transfer of €30 million, which is €6.3 million. That is an increase of 33% on the initial fee for the sake of keeping things peaceful between the two rivals. Although it has not been decided yet how this will play out. Meanwhile, Hernandez is on holidays and enjoying a break after an exhaustive season with Alaves and he carved out a name for himself as one of the highest-rated young left-backs in world football.
