River Plate and Valencia reach agreement for Enzo Pérez

Reports in Argentina claim that they two clubs have a verbal agreement in place for the midfielder to return home for a fee of around 4 million dollars.

Valencia and River Plate are believed to have reached an agreement for Enzo Pérez. The  midfielder was one of the Argentine club's main objectives ahead of Sunday's cut-off date for registering players for the Copa Libertadores. In Argentina, a fee of around the four million dollar mark is being reported for a percentage of the player's transfer rights; the 31-year-old will sign a three-year contract with the Millonarios, who return to the training ground on Monday.

Valencia looking to recoup money on Enzo Pérez

In Valencia, officials admit that negotiations are taking place for Enzo but haven't disclosed any details of the conditions being discussed. Enzo has been transfer-listed by Marcelino and River are well aware of the situation. The player was offered to Rafa Benítez's Newcastle among other clubs. The player meanwhile would be happy to return home to Argentina and especially to join join River.

Valencia brought Enzo Pérez to Mestalla for 25 million euros three years ago. The player is one of the highest earners in the squad and still has two years to run on his contract. River Plate's Director of Sport Enzo Francescoli told Radio Guemes: "There has been input from both sides to ensure the operation to Enzo Pérez here goes ahead. The player has made a great effort to come here. We will be paying the fee agreed with Valencia, around three million euros".
