Real Betis president: Real Madrid have not contacted us over Ceballos

The president of the Andalusian club was asked about Ceballos' future having set the Euro under-21s alight and he said they want him to stay at Real Betis.

Update:
Real Betis president: Real Madrid have not contacted us over Ceballos

Dani Ceballos announced himself onto the European football scene on Tuesday night with a performance against Italy at the Euro under-21s that almost outshone Saul's, who scored a second half hat-trick. So complete was Ceballos performance that the inevitable links to the biggest teams in the world started to surface shortly after.

Angel Haro, the president of Real Betis, cooled talks of a move to Real Madrid, however. "We want him to remain here as a player for Real Betis. It is true that there has been interest from teams since the other night. But there have been no negotiations. Real Madrid have not engaged us in conversation".

The president insisted, "We will talk about it when we can. We want him to stay but we have to wait and see what his intentions are".

Ceballos, who maintains that he is fully focused on the final of the Euros on Friday night against Germany, has a release clause of €15 million and a promise to sell him for €9 million should an offer come in that he wants to pursue.
