Dani Ceballos is the hot topic in and around Real Betis and, even at the official unveiling of new signing Cristian Tello, much of the talk revolved around him.

Ceballos, who starred for Spain at June's Euro U-21 Championship, is being heavily linked with a move, with both Real Madrid and Barcelona tipped to sign him.

"Barcelona asked for my opinion on Dani..."

And Betis vice-president Lorenzo Serra Ferrer confirmed to reporters on Monday that, during negotiations over the recruitment of Tello from Barça, Los Azulgranas took the opportunity to enquire about the 20-year-old midfielder.

"I devoted the time with Barcelona to closing the signing of Cristian," Serra Ferrer said."[But] it's true that they asked for my opinion on Dani, and I gave it to them."

New Betis boss Setién set to speak to Ceballos

Serra Ferrer also revealed that Betis' new head coach, Quique Setién, is due for talks with Ceballos in a bid to persuade him to stay with the Andalusians.

"Tomorrow [Tuesday] or the day after, Setién will have a conversation with Dani and hopefully he'll see that the project isn't just based around him, but also players like Tello.

"I hope he not only stays with us for one more season, but many more. It's also true that there's Dani's standpoint too, and he might be of the opinion that he'll feel [more] fulfilled if he goes to a top club."

Meanwhile, Betis president Ángel Haro insisted that, at present, "there are no meetings scheduled" with Real over a possible Ceballos switch to the Bernabéu.
