Vicente Iborra: "I wasn't born a Sevilla fan but I will die as one"
The captain was in tears as he bid the club and fans farewell with the three Europa League trophies he won with the team as a backdrop.
Vicente Iborra couldn't hold back the tears as sat for the last time in the Sánchez Pizjuán press room where he said his goodbyes to Sevilla team mates, coaching staff, club employees and the fans that have supported him for the past four seasons. Iborra will pack his suitcases and head to England to begin a new chapter in his career with Leicester.
Iborra bids Sevilla an emotional goodbye
The 29-year-old Valencia-born midfielder had the following to say: "I am saying goodbye to what has been my home, my family, my friends... I've come here today to say Thank You. I'd like to thank those who gave me the opportunity to come here. I was signed by one of the best in his profession - I will always be grateful to Monchi. Many thanks as well to José María del Nido Benavente, Pepe Castro for the attention you gave me. I don't want to leave out anyone from the board of directors... Thank you to everyone, all employees at the club: the people who run the club store, Ignacio - the coach driver, the groundsmen, the cleaning staff... the press; Juan Martagón who was like a father to me, Óscar Arias - I'm not going to wish you good luck because hard-workers like you don't need it. I'm in no doubt that Sevilla will remain winners. Thanks to my team mates for making me believe, and making me feel part of a big family. I'll toast your victories with happiness from afar. Special thanks to the fans - I feel proud that I have brought you joy and it has been an honour for me to fight our toughest battles side by side with you. That is why you are unique. I've been through so many unforgettable moments. Everything I have done to defend this shirt and this club badge has been worth it and now I feel a little to blame for leaving you. I have been privileged to defend Sevilla's colours. Al though I wasn't born a Sevillista, I will die as one".
