Copa del Rey final

The Spanish Football Federation (FEF) and LaLiga reached an agreeement on Thursday, with the arbitration of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), regarding fixtures for the 2017-2018 season, due to kick off on the third weekend of August. The Copa del Rey final will be played on 21 April, with the league season scheduled to end on 20 May 2018

A busy weekend in April

The cup final date was the main point of contention between the parties and was finally set for Saturday 21 April, despite fixtures in LaLiga being scheduled for the following day, on Sunday 22 April, corresponding to Matchday 34.

August

Following the UEFA Super Cup, to be played on Tuesday 8 August between Real Madrid and Manchester United in Skopje, and the Spanish Super Cup, to be disputed between Real Madrid and Barcelona (on 13 August in the Camp Nou and 16 August in the Santiago Bernabéu), the league season in Spain will kick off in all divisions on 19 and 20 August, with the top flight scheduled to end on 20 May. The dates are such with a view to a rest period ahead of the World Cup to be played in Russia from 14 June to 5 July.
