Ceballos to have €500M release clause to scare off Barcelona
Real Madrid confirmed the signing of the young Spaniard from Real Betis and are ensuring that a future attempt to take him away is unlikelyChampions League Final: Real Madrid - Liverpool
Those involved with Real Madrid are very enthusiastic about their new young signing Dani Ceballos being a huge success at the club over the coming years. So much so that the eye-watering buyout clause of 500 million euros has been inserted into the player's contract.
Ceballos seen as big part of Madrid future
With expectations that the Sevillian will only develop his game more and improve as a player, Los Blancos don't want to run the risk of footballing rivals, especially their biggest, Barcelona, of stealing him away if he becomes, as they hope, a truly world-class star. They also want to demonstrate to the youngster how much they rate him and see him as an important part of the future at the Bernabéu.
Throughout Real Madrid's courtship of the Real Betis player, which started in May, Barcelona showed their own interest in the creative midfielder, who went on to win the player of the tournament award at this summer's Uefa U-21 European Championships. And once securing the deal - which cost Madrid slightly over what Betis were originally asking for - the Liga winners are taking no chances.
Transfer market gone mad?
Even in a world of crazy transfer prices, the likelihood of a player moving clubs for 500 million euros is extremely low in the coming six years. Time will tell if the player who has not yet reached his 21st birthday can fulfil the immense promise he has shown to date.
