There was a sense of expectation to see if Dani Cabellos training with his teammates after limping out of the Los Angeles Coliseum after his debut against Manchester City midweek. The former Real Betis midfielder was given 30 minutes and left the stadium with some discomfort that appeared to be stemming from a knock to his left knee. It was hoped that it was nothing serious and the fact that he did not request to be taken off gave reason for optimism. That optimism was vindicated when the youngster trained with his teammates without any signs of discomfort on Friday.

It was one of two debuts with Jesus Vallejo lining out in white for the first time too. The central defender was summoned from Eintracht Frankfurt to fill Pepe's role in the squad. Vallejo got turned around and failed to put enough pressure on Brahim Diaz for his first and City's fourth goal on the night.

On Thursday, the defender analysed his performance and his debut on Real Madrid TV saying, "Wearing the Real Madrid jersey is a mixture of pride and responsibility. Travelling with the team and playing games is a special feeling. I really want to help my teammates as long as the manager asks me to."
