Girona get Citified with Moreno, García and Douglas Luiz
After Pablo Maffeo extended his spell at Montilivi, three fellow Manchester City players arrived at the club on loan deals in a single day.
Newly promoted Girona have been busy in the loan market as they prepare for their first-ever season in the top flight and have sealed deals with Manchester City for the loan of four players.
After Pablo Maffeo extended his stay at Montilivio, Girona snapped up Aleix García, Douglas Luiz and Marlos Moreno on season-long loans in a single day on Tuesday.
Moreno, who started out Atlético Nacional in his native Colombia, joined City in 2016 after helping Nacional to the Copa Libertadores. At just 20 years of age the forward, who can also operate as a winger, has earned eight senior caps for his country, scoring in last year’s Copa América Centenario, and spent last season on loan at Depor
García, a product of the Villarreal academy, was a candidate for City’s young player of the year award in 2015-16 and was handed his senior debut by Pep Guardiola last season in a Premier League game against Bournemouth. He also featured in City’s 2016-17 EFL Cup campaign, scoring his first goal for the club against Swansea.
Luiz is one of a raft of Brazilian prospects and scored three times in 26 league appearances for Vasco da Gama in his breakthrough campaign last season. The 19-year-old midfielder has earned several caps for the Brazil under-20s and was named in the Campeonato Carioca team of the year for 2017. He joined City in July for a fee of 12 million euros.
