Real Madrid have turned down a 75-million-euro Juventus bid for midfielder Mateo Kovacic, Diario AS has learned.
Real make it clear to Juve that Kovacic is not for sale
The Italians are understood to have made the offer for Kovacic in recent days, and were told by Los Blancos that the Croat, who has established himself as an important player for coach Zinedine Zidane, is not for sale.
The 23-year-old has started the season in excellent form, starring in Real's 5-1 aggregate victory over arch rivals Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup.
He was lauded by Zidane for his "great display" in the first leg at the Camp Nou last weekend, before being given a standing ovation when he was substituted in Wednesday's return at the Bernabéu.
Since moving to Madrid, he has made a total of 75 appearances, scoring three goals - with Los Merengues unbeaten in the 38 games that he has started.
Juventus not expected to continue Kovacic pursuit
Having announced the signing of France midfielder Blaise Matuidi on Friday, the indications are that Juve will not return with another bid for Kovacic.
If they do, however, they can expect to be rebuffed once again.
