Keylor Navas is a magnificent 'keeper
I have always said that Keylor Navas is a magnificent goalkeeper, including during his most precarious spells. He has been at Madrid for four years now, and has always performed to a high level. In his two seasons as the number one ‘keeper, the team has won the Champions League twice, with Navas making key saves along the way.
Navas in the top bracket of 'keepers
It surprises me that there are doubts over Navas, because he’s an extremely consistent goalkeeper. He has a good spirit, and is highly competitive. I don’t see any problem with him. Maybe he isn’t the best in the world, maybe there are other more glamorous options, but he is right up in the top drawer of ‘keepers about at the moment. I’ll say it again, I don’t see any problem with him.
To me, he comes across as top class ‘keeper and he has demonstrated that in important moments when the team relied on him. He has shone in key moments, like the Champions League final in Cardiff. He’s a professional with integrity, and a good team-mate. Beyond that, he transmits the image of a good person with strong values. A calm professional, and an example in every way.
Zidane's faith a real positive
It’s really positive that Zidane has shown confidence in Navas, supporting him and keeping him in the team during rough patches. It was an important gesture to make sure that Navas felt well-backed and comfortable. He seems like the perfect ‘keeper for Real Madrid. If we don’t value Navas as a good ‘keeper… then who will we value?
