Spain national squad for World Cup qualifiers.

Spain's national team coach, Julen Lopetegui, announced his 26-man squad on Friday from the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas. This group will be used in the upcoming World Cup qualifying games against Italy and Liechtenstein.

David Villa in Spain World Cup squad

One possible surprise inclusion is that of David Villa, currently scoring goals in the MLS for New York City FC. Along with the previous World Cup winner, Lopetegui selected plenty of creativity with AC Milan's Suso, Real Madrid's Asensio, to join the likes of Iniesta, Isco and David Silva.

Shortly after the official announcement, Villa took to Twitter:

"Very excited. Thank you to those who trust in me enough to once again put the shirt back on me."

Spain vs Italy: winner takes all

Spain's game against Italy is one of the highlight's of this round of internationals with both teams knowing that the winner is almost certainly going to top the group and clinch the single automatic qualifying place. This game takes place at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid on Saturday 2 September at 20:45 CEST and AS English will be bringing you live coverage. The game against Liechtenstein takes place on Tuesday 5 September.
