Sergio Ramos pays moving tribute to Antonio Puerta
The Real Madrid captain and former Sevilla player paid tribute to his "dear brother" on the tenth anniversary of his untimely death.
Today Spanish football pauses and remembers Antonio Puerta, a decade after his untimely death following cardiac difficulties sustained playing in a league game at the Sanchez Pizjuan against Getafe. Among the various tributes paid to the Sevilla player on the anniversary of his passing was the eulogy made by current Real Madrid captain and former Sevilla player Sergio Ramos.
The defender from Camas was an intimate friend of Puerta and made his own tribute to the "Eterno 16" via a series of messages on his social media accounts.
"10 years, beloved brother, 10 years since you left us", stated Ramos via his Twitter account with the hashtag #EternoPuerta and an image of the number 16 which was the shirt worn by the player at the Andalusian club.
Ramos also posted on his Instagram account: "10 years of an emptiness that we'll never understand, 10 years of sadness that never leaves and 10 years of victories that will always be yours".

After the tragedy that cost Antonio Puerta his life his legacy is long lasting not just with fans of the club but for fans of the game throughout the world. The club paid their own tribute to the player with a touching video and an accompanying message of: "Ten years without you, but always with you".
LaLiga also were anxious to commemorate the anniversary posting a tweet with the message: "you left us ten years ago but we never tire of remembering you, eternal Antonio Puerta, always in our hearts".
