De Biasi: Alavés set to appoint ex-Albania boss as new coach
Gianni de Biasi is expected to be confirmed as the successor to Luis Zubeldía, who was sacked by the LaLiga club on Sunday.
LaLiga club Deportivo Alavés are close to sealing the appointment of Gianni de Biasi as head coach in place of the sacked Luis Zubeldía.
Zubeldía fired at weekend after poor start to season
On Sunday, Argentine Zubeldía was fired just two months into his tenure at the Basque club, who are yet to pick up a Primera División point this season.
Alavés are understood to have agreed terms with De Biasi, who stepped down as coach of the Albania national team in June after six years in the position.
In his time as Albania boss, the Italian led the country to qualification for Euro 2016 - its first ever appearance at the finals of a major tournament.
The 61-year-old, whose former clubs include Modena, Brescia and Torino, has previously coached in Spain, having had a stint at Levante in the 2007/08 season.
De Biasi set to be in Mendizorroza stands for Real Madrid visit
He is set to sign a contract until the summer with the option of another year, and is expected to be in the stands for Saturday's home LaLiga clash with Real Madrid.
Caretaker Javi Cabello, who was in the dugout for Wednesday's defeat at Deportivo La Coruña, will take charge of the first team against Real.
