PSG - Bayern Munich

Neymar's half-hearted celebration for Cavani's goal

The Brazilian was the last to go over to celebrate the Uruguayan's goal against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The Neymar - Cavani war seems to show no signs of reaching a ceasefire, with a reconciliation clearly not in sight. Because in addition to avoiding passing the the ball to each other in recent Ligue 1 games, and fighting for the ball when it comes to taking free-kicks and penalties, tonight after Cavani had smashed a superb goal home to make it 2-0 to PSG against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, it was clear Neymar had very little desire to go and celebrate the strike with his teammate.

PSG run to celebrate Cavani's goal

WIth PSG leading 1-0, thanks to a fine goal from Alves after a great run from Neymar down the left, Mbappé controlled marvellously on the right and put the ball on a plate for Cavani to fire home with a fine strike. The thrill of the hit saw all the PSG outfield players sprint over to the Uruguayan to celebrate. All except one. Neymar.

The Brazilian eventually trotted over once most of the team had separated themselves from Cavani and gave him a perfunctory hug, devoid of emotion. What made the celebration so obviously cold was the difference to the way Neymar had celebrated with teammate Alves, after the first goal.

In the second half, when Neymar missed a clear chance Cavani did console the Brazilian, and although he was about the last to arrive after Neymar scored PSG's third (from some superb footwork from Mbappé) the Uruguayan gave Neymar a hug.
