Real Madrid have announced that Marco Asensio will remain at the Bernabeú for the next six seasons. He will be presented in Madrid on Friday afternoonChampions League Final: Real Madrid - Liverpool
Marco Asensio has become the latest Real Madrid player to sign a contract extension at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu. The former-Mallorca starlet will remain at Madrid until 2023, as Diario AS stated on July 16.
Marco Asensio contract includes vast buy-out clause
Asensio will be presented before the press at the Bernabéu on Friday alongside Emilio Butragueño, the director of institutional relations.
The new contract will include a buy-out clause of €700 million, although that figure could be revised in the future. Real Madrid are eager to avoid a situation like Barcelona had with Neymar, where a club met the player’s clause, rendering Barcelona unable to prevent his departure.
Asensio joins Isco, Marcelo, and co in extending his stay
The 21-year-old has gained the full confidence of Zinedine Zidane since returning from a fruitful loan spell at Espanyol in 2016-17. This season he is Real Madrid’s second-top goal-scorer with four goals. Only Cristiano Ronaldo (five) has scored more.
Asensio becomes the latest Real Madrid player to extend his contract since the summer, following Marcelo (2022), Isco (2022), Karim Benzema (2021), Dani Carvajal (2021), and Marcos Llorente (2021), and Raphael Varane (2022).
