Four hospitalised in clashes between Alavés and Racing fans
The altercations took place in Vitoria where two games were scheduled: Alavés-Real Sociedad and CD Vitoria-Racing Santander.
Four people were taken to hospital after clashes between rival sets of fans in Vitoria on Saturday with two games scheduled for the same afternoon: Alavés-Real Sociedad and CD Vitoria-Racing Santander.
The main participants were supporters of Alavés and Racing, who share a long antipathy towards each other, but the Basque police force is also searching for a man from the Guipuzcoan municipality of Zarauz after it emerged that Sociedad fans may have joined in the disturbances.
Nobody has yet been arrested but the travelling Racing Santander fans were escorted back to their coaches by the police and left without seeing the game, which ended in a goalless draw.
Of the four people taken to hospital all were believed to be Racing fans and one was admitted to the emergency unit with a head injury.
