Clarence Seedorf answered Real Madrid's call from the garage
The Dutch midfielder has revealed exactly how his decision to move from Sampdoria to Los Blancos in 1996 came about. The rest, as he says, is history.
Clarence Seedorf starred for Real Madrid between 1996 and 1999 contributing significantly to a Champions League and domestic LaLiga title among other honours. But the simplicity of his decision to join Los Blancos he has shared on social media.

The Dutch international only recently joined Instagram but since doing so has proved very active. In his first week he posted 10 pieces as well as a chat with his followers, around 300,000 at last glance. In one recent post the midfielder revealed just what happened for his decision to make the move to Madrid, a club he said had been courting him since he was just 14 years old.
"Real Madrid wanted me when I was 14," he said, "but my parents didn’t let me go also because I had to finish school in Holland at that time."
Moving to Real Madrid
But it was after the final game of the 1995-96 Serie A season when his move was to be decided.
"I was at the garage in the stadium and I heard somebody calling me: 'Hey Clarence, will you come to Real Madrid with me?'. 'Yes I will Mister,' I answered."
It was Fabio Capello doing the calling and as Seedorf said very appropriate voice and "the rest is history".
Following the move to Real Madrid the legendary player scored 20 goals across his 159 appearances for the club. Although being an almost ever present in those first three years he started to get less playing time under Guus Hiddink and was sold to Inter Milan for around 23 million euros.
