FC Barcelona have given their backing to an initiative by the Hungarian Consul-General to petition the city council to name a street after Barça legend Ladislao Kubala.
The initiative, which was approved during Monday evening's board meeting, joins forces with a similar proposal put forward several years ago by Barça Players Association which was also backed by the club.
Kubala the legend
Born in Budapest in 1927, Ladislao Kubala is considered to be one of the greatest players to have worn the Barcelona shirt; he played for the club between 1950 and 1962 and also briefly coached the team. He was one of the reasons why the old Estadio de Les Corts stadium became too small for Barça and their following, prompting the club to build a bigger stadium, their current Camp Nou home.
