Isco out of Russia game and a doubt for derby against Atlético
The Real Madrid midfielder took a heavy knock in Spain's friendly against Costa Rica and may miss out on the game at the Metropolitano.
Isco has been released by Spain and will not travel to Russia with the rest of the squad on Sunday afternoon after picking up a knock in La Roja’s friendly victory over Costa Rica after a heavy challenge by Kendall Watson.
The Real Madrid midfielder will instead return to the Spanish capital so that club doctors can assess the extent of the injury, which could rule him out of the Madrid derby against Atlético at the Metropolitano on November 18.
Isco was substituted for Marco Asensio in the 65th minute of the match in Málaga and Zinedine Zidane will hope to have the midfielder available for the trip across town as Isco has become a regular starter under the Frenchman this season in the prolonged absence of Gareth Bale.
