Despite the claims of Atleti club president Cerezo claiming that journalists fail to grasp the French sense of humour, it's no secret that the relationship between Griezmann and the Laliga side is tense and the possibility of a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano for the player is a growing concern for Atletico fans. The recent social media post by the player's brother Theo linking the striker with Manchester United having done little to quell the speculation that grows on a weekly basis surrounding the French international's future.

June deal

Griezmann renewed his deal with Atlético Madrid last June, which in theory would see the striker remain with Atleti through to 2022 with his buy-out clause dropping from 200 million euro to 100 million euro on September 2. The 2017/18 campaign has failed to see the French striker hit the heady heights of previous years with just two goals from the former Real Sociedad in the current domestic season. Patience with the player is also running-out in certain quarters among the club's hierarchy with the idea of selling the striker being talked about as a realistic scenario with Atleti prepared to listen to offers over and above the 100 million euro mark that cover his deal.

Both Manchester United and Barcelona are believed to be interested in securing the forward's signature with French outlet Le10Sport going as far to claim that negotiations are at an advanced stage between the Catalan outfit and the player's representative. The key to the deal is reaching a compromise with Atlético apparently not prepared to listen to offers lower than the buy-out clause and Barça believed to be reluctant to part with 100 million for the French marksman.
