Pepe's father criticises how Real Madrid treated his son near the end of his time at the club
The father of the Portuguese defender says the club should have offered him more for the last year of his contract but the offer didn't suffice.
Pepe's father has joined in with his criticism of los Blancos with Pepe himself recently suggesting that Real Madrid fans don't "transmit enthusiasm" to the players at the santiago Bernabéu and they can actually make matters worse.
In an interview with Globoesporte, Anael Ferreira said, "this club drains every last drop out of you. When they are tired of you and don't want you anymore they start to treat you poorly. And the player, when you are established and see retirement close, you have to focus on improving your terms. When you have one years left on your contract, the club usually start to call but they never called Pepe. After they did call and they offered the same amount of money he was already earning. He decided to reject it and to see out his contract and leave," he said.
The Portuguese defender, who was know for his outbursts during his time at Real Madrid before reigning himself in was also all set to give up his dream as a footballer at one point when he was younger to activate Plan B: to become a taxi driver.
