Marco Asensio was always destined to be at Real Madrid

Spanish programme El Chiringuito has published a picture of the young star posing beside a boat that belonged to none other than Los Blancos' president, Florentino Pérez.

Marco Asensio has shot onto the scene at the Santiago Bernabéu, scoring goals of exquisite quality that any of the more established players would be proud of. And his appearance in the white of Real Madrid should be no surprise to those who knew him when he was younger.

Pérez' future star

Last night, Spanish television programme El Chiringuito de Jugones shared an image of the young Spaniard when he was just a boy. And the picture paints the future as the boy takes centre stage in front of a vessel owned by Real Madrid president, Florentino Pérez, who stands behind in admiration. On that day his father has been reported to have said to Los Blancos' chief: "This is my son Marco, some day he'll play at Real Madrid". How right he was.

Asensio and trophies

Years after the photo was taken Asensio completed his dream and is now enjoying his time as he becomes more and more a part of the reigning Liga and Champions League holders, medals already stored away in the cabinet.
