Ernesto Valverde: "Messi's goal was clear"
The Barça coach discussed his side's 1-1 draw against title-rivals Valencia, including Lionel Messi's unawarded goal in the first half.
Ernesto Valverde spoke to Spanish television following the final whistle in the 1-1 draw between Valencia and Barcelona.
A ‘ghost-goal’ by Lionel Messi, which crossed the line but was not awarded, provided a contentious point of discussion.
Valverde: "Barça showed courage"
The result: “We would have liked to have taken the three points and we’re happy with the game we played. Their goal did us damage mentally. We showed courage at all times. It was a high-pressure match. We’ll take the point.”
Messi’s ghost goal: "Messi’s goal was really clear, and we conceded a chance after. The important thing is to stay on top of the pressure of the game. We didn’t lose our heads against strong opposition.”
Style of play: “We’re not bothered about what people say. We know that we want to dominate matches and own the play. There are times when you’re more fortunate than others.”
