Update:
Real Madrid take Globe Soccer Award nominations by storm

Real Madrid takes its place in the nominations for the Globe Soccer Awards, the football awards that since 2010 have been brought by the Globe Soccer Association, of Dubai. They pull together the main representatives of the sport (FIFA, ECA, UEFA) with the league of the United Arab Emirates, and principal world clubs. Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos are in the running for Player of the Year, Real Madrid is nominated for Best Club and Zinedine Zidane is a candidate to take Globe Soccer's Best Coach of 2017. The awards will be awarded at a gala in Dubai on the 28th of December.

Big year for Real Madrid and stars

Los Blancos are the big favorites to collect the prizes after winning LaLiga, the Champions League, the Spanish Super Cup and the European Supercup in 2017. Their number seven, Cristiano, who won the Best Player award 2016, will return to battle with Barcelona's Lionel Messi for this year's trophy, along with Sergio Ramos, Neymar Jr, Dybala, Mbappé and Buffon. The Portuguese and Argentinian stars are the only ones who return to the shortlist after last year's competition, which included Bale, Griezmann, Vardy and Higuain. To date Cristiano has had the most success in the individual award: winning in 2011, 2014 and 2016 (Messi won in 2015, Ribéry in 2013 and Falcao in 2012).

Recapturing the LaLiga title, claiming the Champions League and topping them up with the two Super Cups put Zinedine Zidane in a strong position to Best Coach of the Year trophy. The French coach, who will face competition from Mourinho, Conte and Allegri, was also nominated last year, but the award was taken home by Fernando Santos, the Portuguese coach who surprised everyone by winning the European Championships.

Madrid looking for hat-trick of Best Club awards

As expected, Real Madrid are again nominated in the category of Best Club of the Year. The Spanish giants won this prize last year over Sevilla, Leicester City, Molde and Legia Warsaw and also took the title in 2014, giving them the same number as rivals Barça who won in 2015 and 2011. This time they are up against Manchester United and Monaco.

The Globe Soccer Awards are chosen by a jury, which this year is made up of: Adriano Galliani, Marcelo Lippi, Demetrio Albertini, Enrico Bendoni, Giovanni Branchini, Fabio Capello, Antonio Conte, Luis Figo, Pinto Da Costa, Miguel Angel Gil, Augusto César Lendoiro and Nicola Rizzoli. Unlike other ceremonies, there is also a prize for the best football agent of the year in which Mendes, Raiola and Lucci will be competing.
